This is the UK\u2019s most southerly point. The landscape is dramatic, with wave lashed rocks and if you are lucky, sightings of seals and basking sharks. Head for the Lizard Lighthouse Heritage Centre (entry and lighthouse tour \u00a36adults\/ \u00a33 children) <\/em>where you can climb the tower, sound a foghorn, track ships and build your own lighthouse. If you are feeling energetic then take a walk along the coastal path to Lizard Point (at times the path does venture close to the cliff edge). Then finish the day than with a legendary Anne\u2019s pasty (found in the village) to enjoy in the comfort of your VW camper van. ( Opening hours vary)<\/em><\/p>\n

Trebah gardens (entry \u00a39.00 adults\/ \u00a33.00 children)<\/em> is a sub-tropical paradise with a stunning coastal backdrop. This magical garden has over four miles of footpath. Follow children\u2019s trails under lush canopies and through colourful tunnels; check out Tarzan\u2019s Camp; paraglide through treetops and emerge on the small river beach on the Helford river. If you are feeling hungry then a visit to Planters caf\u00e9 is recommended where they serve locally sourced snacks. (Open daily from 10am to an hour before dusk)<\/em><\/p>\n

Visit Poldark Tin Mine and Gardens\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SATNAV TR13 0ER<\/span><\/h2>\n

This is the only complete underground mine open to the public in Cornwall . Admission to the main site ( grounds, open air museum and exhibits ) for a family (2 adults and 2 children) is \u00a310.00. <\/em>However if you are feeling adventurous then take a guided tour ( family ticket \u00a340.00)<\/em> where you will be able to experience the original underground workings of the tin mine. Just beware that there are some very narrow passages and lots of steps so sensible shoes are advisable. You will also need to wear the hard hat provided. Other activities, at extra charge, include Gold panning, Circus Skills and Pottery Throwing. (Open Sunday to Friday, Saturdays only on bank Holiday weekends 10.45am, last admission 4.00pm)<\/em><\/p>\n

Frolic with Fairies at Golitha Falls, Bodmin Moor SATNAV PL14 6RY<\/span><\/h2>\n

This is an opportunity to explore the wilderness of Bodmin, said to be inhabited by a mischievous fairy tribe, the Cornish Piskies. Golitha Falls Nature Reserve ( free entry) <\/em>is a steeply sided wooded valley with the River Fowey flowing through it in a series of spectacular cascades that drop for 90 metres. Your VW camper van will have plenty of room in the large car park close to the entrance. Walk along footpaths ( including a buggy \u2013friendly trail) that tunnel through the valley alongside the tumbling river. Scale tree trunks, tiptoe across stepping stones and march over bridges. Marvel at the waterfall as it cascades down the gorge. Find a fairytale glen to unpack a picnic and be sure that those Piskies will be watching!!<\/p>\n

Walk in the footsteps of giants to St Michael\u2019s Mount , Marazion \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0SATNAV TR17 0EQ<\/span><\/h2>\n

If the tide is out , walk across the causeway to the sea encircled castle, once home to a legendary giant who was lured to his death by a brave local lad. The whole family will be fascinated by the history, legends and myths surrounding St Michael\u2019s Mount ( entry \u00a37 adults\/ \u00a33.50 children, family ticket \u00a317.50)<\/em> Hunt for the giant\u2019s stone heart etched in the pathway, follow clues to the castle turrets and stand in the firing line of bygone battles. Relax and soak up the sun in the sub-tropical gardens. Beware, the climb to the castle is steep so not suitable for buggies. However, there are hipster seats available (free)<\/em>for little ones. At the end of the day , if the tide is in, hop on the ferry back to the mainland. (Open Castle Sunday to Friday 10.30 to 17.00\/ Gardens Monday to Friday 10.30 to 17.00)<\/em><\/p>\n
