The most well know moor in Devon<\/a>, made famous through its inclusion in Hollywood blockbusters and as the inspiration for Conan Doyle\u2019s The Hound of the Baskervilles. Dartmoor covering nearly 400 square miles of rugged moorland interspersed with many picturesque villages and attractions, has something for everyone. If you\u2019re into walking then you can walk for miles and not see another person \u2013 enjoying all the unspoilt beauty and charm of Dartmoor.<\/p>\n

We have walked many of the routes including the famous Haytor, with a family and Bonnie the dog, everyone has had a great time particularly clambering over the rocks or playing hide and seek up on Haytor.<\/p>\n

We took our bikes with us and followed part of the route The Tour of Britain took in 2013, obviously at a calmer pace. There are miles of on and off road routes all over Dartmoor and it\u2019s easy to park up the campervan, unload the bikes and head off for as long or short a ride as you fancy. The website www.dartmoor.co.uk<\/a> had plenty of routes that you can choose from graded into easy, moderate and hard.<\/p>\n

Camping – If you\u2019re looking for a campervan base in Devon or somewhere to pitch for the night the Harford Bridge Park on the edge of Dartmoor by the River Tavy is a great location which has been awarded 4 pennants by the AA with a special distinction for the conservation that has taken place. The site if really flexible, none of the pitches are squeezed so everyone can enjoy the feeling of being outdoors in the green countryside. The facilities are all bang up to date including the toilets and shower blocks (always important for us choosing somewhere). The market town of Tavistock is only a mile away with its lively pannier market open every day and various street and farmers markets popping up during the week.<\/p>\n
