In addition to the beautiful New Forest<\/a> National Park itself and the famous wild ponies, there are lots attractions to visit plus many activities such as cycling, archery, canoeing, bushcraft, kayaking, trails and walks. \u00a0Below we have highlighted our favourite five attractions we recommend you visit.<\/p>\n

1. Buckler’s Hard<\/h1>\n

Bucker’s Hard is located on\u00a0the banks of the Beaulieu River, near Beaulieu, one\u00a0of the most stunning villages in the New Forest. Buckler’s Hard is a\u00a0historic\u00a0village, steeped in history and an important part of 18th century \u00a0naval history\u00a0as a\u00a0dockyard used to build warships\u00a0for Nelson\u2019s navy. Along with\u00a018th century life recreations, maritime museum, chapel and riverside walks, \u00a0there is also a\u00a0river cruise\u00a0on beautiful Beaulieu River.<\/p>\n

2. Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway<\/h1>\n

\"Exbury<\/a><\/p>\n

Exbury Gardens, owned by the Rothschild family is located in the New forest, east of Beaulieu the other side of the river from Bucklers Hard, in the village of Exbury. The gardens cover over 200 acres of stunning woodland landscape and informal\u00a0horticulture. In addition to the gardens\u00a0\u00a0there is a 12 1\u20444 in \u00a0gauge steam railway that goes around various sections of the gardens. Built in 2001\u00a0the steam railway has become very popular leading to building of extra locomotives.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Beaulieu National Motor Museum<\/h1>\n

\"National<\/a><\/p>\n

The National Motor Museum is based at Beaulieu was founded in 1952 by Baron Montagu of Beaulieu.\u00a0Today\u00a0the museum contains around\u00a0250 vehicles from the late 1800s onwards, plus motoring memorabilia from around the world including motoring books, photographs and \u00a0films. In addition there is a popular on screen exhibit including famous cars fromTV series in the UK such as Only Fools and Horses\u00a0Reliant Regal and Mr Bean\u2019s green Mini.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0The Capital of the New Forest \u00a0– Lyndhurst<\/h1>\n

\"Lyndhurst<\/a><\/p>\n

Lyndhurst was\u00a0first mentioned in the\u00a0<\/span>Domesday Book<\/a>\u00a0of 1086 under the name ‘Linhest’ and today is regarded as the capital of the New Forest. It is the National Park’s\u00a0administrative capital and as a\u00a0\u00a0popular tourist attraction particularly in the summer months its historical high street is a big draw. The high street contains various\u00a0independent shops, pubs, galleries, caf\u00e9s, and\u00a0hotels. The village is the forestry commission’s local headquarters and where the Court of Verderers sits.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Hurst Castle Spit<\/h1>\n

\"Hurst<\/a><\/p>\n

Located at the southernmost point of the New Forest National Park Hurst Castle Spit offer splendid views across The Solent and the Island \/ Needles. As a defensive position\u00a0and one of\u00a0\u00a0Henry VIII’s \u00a0Forts, \u00a0the castle is built at the end of a spit into\u00a0the Solent to guard the start of the Southampton water in times gone by. Now decommissioned and run by English Heritage the\u00a0\u00a0museum contains \u00a0a range of guns and canons from different eras\u00a0up to\u00a0the Second World War.<\/p>\n
